Equipment and Services
Caudwell Children
Caudwell Children is a charity that provides specialist equipment, treatment and therapies for sick and disabled children across the UK as well as our Destinations Dreams holiday for children (and their family) fighting life threatening conditions.
Newlife
This charity calls themselves the 'specialists for special children'. They offer:
Nurse Services
Just one call or email to a Newlife Nurse and in answering this we will begin to understand the needs of the child and family. Whatever the query we experienced and dedicated nurses will listen to the situation and then explain, what the possibilities are for Newlife to offer support and advice.
Equipment Grant Services
It is often during these early conversations that we identify a need such as equipment. If it’s information that is needed our nurses will supply and support. If it is a referral we will research and refer. If it’s equipment provision that’s needed we can often offer a grant and try to deliver the help they need – often within days.
Medical Research
Most parents ask ‘why me?’ ‘why my child?’ and we know medical research holds the key. This is why our links to sources of the latest research are crucial in keeping our Nurses up to date with new techniques in testing and both diagnostic and treatment advances. This knowledge comes directly from our own researchers and from leading researchers elsewhere in the UK and overseas.
Campaigns and Awareness
Many parents feel they have to battle to get the help they need and that they are very much alone. Our campaigning and awareness activities show them that we can help them have a voice on important issues and overcome their isolation.
Family Fund
The Family Fund helps families with severely disabled or seriously ill children and young people aged 17 and under to have choices and the opportunity to enjoy ordinary life.
We give grants for things that make life easier and more enjoyable for the disabled child, young person and their family, such as washing machines, driving lessons, computers and holidays.
Whizz Kidz

This charity was set up by a young man who wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of disadvantaged children after being at the wheel of a car that caused significant injuries.
Post Pals
The most amazing charity that gives details of children that could really do with an extra smile. They encourage people to send children with long term illness or disability some post a small gift or an email to cheer them up. What I especially love is that they also include the siblings of the children on their books, which is unfortunately rare, and they are often the ones who suffer the most.
Post Pals Pillow Cases
Post Pals brightens the lives of seriously ill children, and this project supports their work. Ria and her team of volunteers design and print pillow cases and cushion covers for the Post Pals children and their brothers and sisters (if they are aged between 2 and 16). No charge is made for this. They also make custom pillow cases for a minimal fee which all goes towards Post Pals. They truly are amazing designs, everyone comments on Dominic's. I've ordered a few for birthday presents for friends' children too.
Wiggly Bags
Volunteers who make fun bags for wiggly lines (Hickman lines), bile bag covers. They make funky bags for a lot of the Post Pals Children.
